An Indian Head summer is an outdoor experience that provides a balanced offering of instruction and participation in land sports, aquatics, creative and performing arts and outdoor adventure and discovery. Our activities are designed to stir the diverse senses and enthusiasms of each camper. And, most of all, all our activities are FUN!
Indian Head’s extensive sports program offers something for everyone and allows IHC campers the ability to experience a wide range of exciting activities and explore many different interests. We offer high quality individualized and team instruction by experienced coaches on outstanding facilities. While we do not shun competition, our goal is to promote teamwork, sportsmanship and spirit.
Throughout the summer, campers have the option of participating in Intercamp Games and Tournaments against other camps. There are no “try-outs” – you do not have to “make the cut” to be on the team. Though everyone enjoys winning, our priority is for every camper to have the opportunity to be involved, try their best, have fun and feel good about themselves.
In addition to our excellent skills based, age appropriate daily instruction we offer many specialized sports clinics. These clinics provide our campers with an opportunity to enhance their individual abilities in a safe, stress free environment. We host an Ivan Barron Tennis Camp, NYFFL Flag Football Program and a 5 Star Basketball clinic to name a few!

IHC’s comprehensive aquatics program is based on the American Red Cross swimming program, taught by experienced and skilled instructors in an Olympic-sized, heated swimming pool – specifically designed for instruction and competitive swimming.
Indian Head is located on a beautiful, private, spring-fed lake, which is the ideal setting for children to gain experience in a variety of waterfront activities. We have a fleet of 3 Championship Ski Nautique Ski Boats, sailboats, canoes and numerous other kayaks and fun-craft.
The excitement doesn’t stop there as the IHC camper can spend the warm days bouncing on our full-size trampoline and, if they choose, be gently launched into the lake with our catapult. If that wasn’t enough they can continue having FUN by scaling our ‘cool’ Ice Berg or making a ‘splash’ by heading down our water slide!
The creative and performing arts programs offer an important change of pace from the physical activities that make up so much of a camper’s day at Indian Head. As with all of our activities, the emphasis is on participation and exploration.
Campers with a flair for performance participate in technical workshops and frequent stage productions at the Ezersky Playhouse. The Playhouse is professionally equipped with a full-size stage, dressing room and modern lighting and sound equipment. In addition, experienced instructors offer guidance in the following:

Our outdoor program provides great opportunities for team-building as well as personal challenges. A strong and continuously expanding Out-post Tripping Program (OPT) and 31 forest-based elements in our challenge course distinguishes Indian Head from other camps in the region.
Younger campers are provided with a wide range of on-site activities based in nature that focus on outdoor living skills as well as challenging elements like our climbing towers and high elements. However, adventures close to nature are not limited to the 300-acre Indian Head Camp site. As campers’ become more experienced, the outdoor program grows with them. They gain more opportunities and are provided with off-site day and overnight trips.
Older campers can sign up for an array of camping trips lasting from two to five days. Through the Outdoor Adventure Programs, campers glimpse a world far removed from cities and towns, and find themselves following different laws and rhythms.
